#ONEBATTLEAFTER ANOTHER - I'm a PTA skeptic, I only really LOVE The Master, There Will Be Blood - and this one, I think. It's a really fantastic movie that balances very different tones surprisingly well. And Leo is really going all in at playing complete losers. #film #cinema #review
It's an action thriller first - Bob Ferguson used to be a member of left-wing militia (their actions are violent and unexpectedly unapologetic for a mainstream movie), but he left this past behind when the mother of his child abandoned them to focus on her activism. Unfortunately, the bad guys, especially colonel Lockjaw, a sexual creep, never stopped looking for them, and one day Bob is separated from his Willa - and does everything in his power to get her back.
Even if he's not an action hero by slightest, Ferguson is really a pathetic figure. If this film is Kubrickian, it strikes the tone most with its satirical comedy, because OBAA is surprisingly funny, in ways I didn't expect, some scenes are laugh-out-loud hilarious.
At the same time, it's also amazingly timely with its criticism of law enforcement. Now, this film was obviously written in the before times. We have made up forces called, I think, NKU, military, police - but you know you can't spell "police" without "ICE"...

Next to DiCaprio, we also have amazing acting talent ensemble: Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, previous Mavoy Movie Award winner Teyana Taylor (always a powerhouse) and also very exiciting newcomer named Chase Infiniti playing Bob's daughter, this is her real name and she's a revelation.

Jonny Greenwood has been recently in the news for rather upsetting reasons, but I gotta give it to him - his score is perfect as always.

You should watch this film.
