i thought they cared about women.

@kathimmel I didn't even listen to the audio, but, fuuuck. That's so brazen. "Not you"
@sarajw i wonder if other women in attendance noticed the blatant shutdown.
@kathimmel is be surprised if not. I wonder how female the crowd was, though.
@sarajw i heard a few female-sounding voices in the audio.
@kathimmel fair enough. I know it's the sort of event I'd run a mile from - they're the men who you'd keep your head down when walking past at night, or who would try and goad the male friend with you into a fight. Brrr.

@sarajw @kathimmel

Speaking as an antifascist who spends a lot of time monitoring them: usually 5% - 10% with this sort of flagshagger crowd.

This has an interesting effect. Because women are so rare, it's possible for a woman who is willing to toe the party line completely to become a spokesperson or even leader quite rapidly. All you have to do is know what they want to hear and repeat it back to them. The fash love to hear a woman saying what they want to hear, because it makes them think that it's a more widespread view than it is, and there's money in doing that. This was the grift that Anne-Marie Waters and Posie Parker ran. There isn't much longevity in it though: the fash will also inevitably move on to other leaders after getting bored with you. Ask Waters or Parker how relevant they are today.

@passenger @sarajw salient context. thank you.
she's probably of a slightly different ilk, but i see that hatie bopkins is still staying afloat (&, yes, that should conjure up the appropriate imagery in your head).
