That requires a Labour MP to relinquish their (very safe) seat for him. Except I, and I suspect many Labour MPs remember Patrick Gordon Walker similar sojourn in Smethwick. Being beaten by an outright racist with the slogan "if you want a n--- for a neighbour, vote Labour" is the last thing anyone this side of Reform wants.
