We are pretty fed up with Windows; my husband has been looking around for a different operating system and wanted me to throw it out to the #Fediverse on what people use and what they think about their choice. Please boost and let me know what is better than Windows and why. Thank you.

@mooseandriosmom Falling down a flight of stairs is better than Windows.

But seriously, all you need is #Linux. If it's new to you (as it mostly is to me) I recommend #Mint or #BodhiLinux or even #PopOS.

@Gustodon
+1 for Linux Mint w/Cinnamon.

@crispius @Gustodon @mooseandriosmom yes, this one (mint cinnamon) is a great entry point into Linux for someone coming from a windows environment. It was easier to set up and configure than windows 11 (I recently set up a brand new laptop to dual boot, and me and my daughter were stuck for a while trying to figure out the captcha things on windows 11 install and getting them wrong), and no issues with drivers or anything (everything just works). Recommend giving it a shot on dual boot and see.
That's some of the responses I've been getting is the mint cinnamon. I will be sure to let him know. We've been leaning towards it. Thank you.

I’m test-driving Trixie with GNOME right now. Once I used GNOME Tweaks to restore the minimize/maximize buttons I was fine. It’s definitely a departure from the Windows paradigm—in a good way.
