Patriarchy and social hierarchy are both facets of the Abrahamic religion that was violently imposed on European populations by their then leaders, presumably to provide religious validation to their rule.

Abrahamic religion is not an indigenous religion.

Social hierarchies certainly existed with patriarchy likely foremost among them, but the indigenous religions themselves were polytheistic and animist and did not have the structured hierarchy of monotheism.
