October #accountability goals:

-I am getting my letterpresses roaring again after my move. I am going to restock the brick & mortar sellers who carry my work.

-I am finishing a hand-coded website for my commerce experiments on the independent web.

-By the end of October, right in the thick of holiday marketing/selling season, I will be COMPLETELY OFF INSTAGRAM. (Haven't been on the app in months but still!).

And I have to say that it's thanks to #union employment at my main gig and the pay bump that came with it that I can afford to lose some serious income by doing this. It's okay!

I am grateful I started building my email list two years ago, which has helped. My website traffic will (hopefully) come from good-faith, non-clickbaity engagement on my mastodon.social instance, IRL markets and workshops, and my email list.

#art #artbusiness #socialmedia

I feel extremely motivated after talking IRL to two well-known Baltimore artists who asked for my Instagram out of habit. When I told them I can give it to them, but that I'm in the process of divesting from it, we talked forever about how manipulative and soul-crushing it is to artists.

But they can't just leave because they do art full-time and need all the eyes they can get as less and less people have income to spend on art. That's real!

But I can leave so I really should!
