@nixCraft for people using #nextcloud , this functionality is built in plus with the announcement they did of the new version just today, you can even sign a PDF using a smart card like many European people have

@thibaultmol do you have a link to documentation for that?

@nixCraft

@michael @nixCraft @fluidlogic
I'll be honest, not sure. The blogpost itself doesn't say anything. the video just said "pdf 2.0, eID easy PDF signing (QES)"

I did find this: https://www.eideasy.com/blog/nextcloud-and-eid-easy-partner-up (old post though)

and https://www.collaboraonline.com/blog/sign-pdfs-from-collabora-online-secure-your-documents-now/ (nextcloud office is based on collabora office)

The blogpost about it (again, old) https://nextcloud.com/blog/nextcloud-hub-22-introduces-approval-workflows-integrated-knowledge-management-and-decentralized-group-administration/#:~:text=%F0%9F%93%9D%20documents%20signing

Enhance your Nextcloud workflows with eID Easy's seamless document signing. Secure, efficient, and integrated for all Nextcloud Hub 22 users.

@thibaultmol @michael @nixCraft brilliant. Thank you for making the effort to dig up and share those resources.
@thibaultmol thanks. I’ll look into these!
@thibaultmol @nixCraft there seem to be several Nextcloud apps for this. Which one is blessed by Nextcloud?
@nixCraft I can sign and encrypt with my Estonian ID-Card.

@nixCraft

SSO is a Pro Feature -> red flag, ditched.

@nixCraft no end2end encryption from what I can tell. My biggest issue with document signing services is not really if the infrastructure code is OSS or not, but that I have to trust them with very sensitive data.
@nixCraft anything that doesn't include docusign's toxic terms of service.
@nixCraft To be fair, I'm more interested on an alternative to JSignPDF, which is FOSS and was last updated this year, but the interface is clunky and it's really hard to position a visible signature with it, mainly if you have to sign A0-sized PDFs.
@nixCraft While I'm happy to see this, it saddens me that my first reaction is "great, a whole new suite of spam filters are going to be required as soon as this becomes popular enough for the scammers to notice."
@nixCraft I have been thinking about signing up for DocuSign for POINT but this is way more better. Thanks!
@nixCraft Oh, this is nice! EVERY company I've ever worked for has said "...and we want to go paperless" COOL! Can you afford DocuSign? "How much is DocuSign?" If you have to ask you can't afford it.

@nixCraft

Check your local jurisdiction for the legality of an electronic document signature.

@nixCraft docusign is not just a tool to overlay pointless scribbles upon pdfs under a false pretense that they mean something asking to proper digital signatures, it's also someone to blame when the whole sham goes south. can't self host that.
@nixCraft Is it accessible though?
@nixCraft I wonder how accessible this is with screen readers?
