The #Kremlin

Storied seat of Russian imperial power for centuries

A beautiful complex

Where the decision makers executing the #ethnofascist war on #Ukraine sit

'Ukrainian President Volodymyr #Zelensky has threatened to attack the Kremlin if #Russia continues the war against his country.

"First of all they have to know where their bomb shelters are. If they will not stop the war, they will need it"'

Bomb the fuck out of it

Reduce it to rubble

@benroyce
I would go after an easier target. All of Putin's palaces. 😆

@lin11c

i agree with you

but

ukraine has been studious to bomb only military and economic targets that facilitate russia's war on ukraine (unlike russia, which prefers to kill random civilians on purpose, terrorism)

this has given ukraine a sterling moral upper hand

that doesn't mean bombing putin's palaces wouldn't be great propaganda, nor would it be morally questionable

but mostly, it's just a waste of ammo

let ordinary russians bomb that. more meaningful that way too

@lin11c

also, i wouldn't be surprised if putin's palaces are well protected by anti-air. priorities 🙄

@benroyce
More than the Kremlin? Actually, you are probably right. He certainly would care about them more. 😆
@benroyce
Very few civilian casualties though. Even though I we have seen that Putin doesn't care about his people dying.
@benroyce
I am impressed how restrained Ukrainians have been even after dams and power stations were blown up by the war criminals. It does give them an ethical advantage.

@lin11c

it is ukraine's great benefit

they will not have as much support if they get as dirty as the russians

any war, anywhere, if one side clearly targets military/ leaders/ infrastructure, while the other side targets civilians cruelly, the former will expect the great mass of public support around the world

and that matters in terms of economic and military support, not just feeling

@benroyce
Lessons from WWII.
@Ben Royce 🇺🇦 I can understand the sentiment, but bombing historical buildings isn't going to help.

Let's not turn this beautiful building into another Monte Casino, or Dresden.

@hans

i completely and utterly understand this concern

i also completely and utterly reject it

this is not merely a beautiful storied old complex

it's also the seat from which much terror and murder was directed from, for centuries

i am completely ok with it being reduced to rubble

some symbols need to be destroyed, not preserved. because of what they symbolize. regardless of renown

@benroyce I will be more upset over the loss of historic archetecture than I would over any of the lives of Russian politicians or military leaders.

@csstrowbridge

there are certain munitions, quite macabre, where they do not explode on impact. what they do is they send out sharp knives

it's only for high value targets, and requires precise intelligence

it would send quite the message

@benroyce - still a forest when Kyiv was a thriving city.

@bazcook

that Russia might lose its ancient symbol of imperial power due its colossal blunder of applying 1822 imperialism tactics on ukraine in 2022...
