I want to make everyone watch Kaye's talk on cognitive overload. We often underestimate how overwhelming our websites can become for many people.
My biggest offender, ironically: Luxemburgish government websites. It triggers so much anxiety because it's important information that is hard to digest.
@stephaniewalter doing your taxes online in Luxembourg is the end boss 😬
@jollysea I have an accountant who did them for me this year, but gosh that is expensive. My boss is tax people over the phone. Last time I cried. I didn't understand if I owed them money or they did because their mail is crap. I called them. The guy kind of explained but I wasn't sure I got it, so I repeated it back to him to double check. He got mad like "did you listen to me I just explained that". Yeah you did, but, I still want to make sure I understood you.
@jollysea VAT people are also super fun, they send you a link to a 81 pages documents with the european guidelines "here you answer is in there". Well my friend, I have google, I found that doc already, if I take the time to send you an email with a very precise question, it's because I did not find my answer.
I'm just amazed at how hard it is to get a precise answer from anyone working in administration in this country.

@stephaniewalter @jollysea huh, interesting, I have found the tax people to generally be nice and helpful (and DEFINITELY compared to the average Lux fonctionnaire, who's an arrogant asshole). I almost always email them tho.

I also have an accountant now, I don't find him THAT expensive (around 300 euros) and deeefinitely worth it for me. The anxiety caused by doing it myself is, like, 1000 euros worth 😂

@clarissawam @jollysea mine said it would be 800 a year, it went to 1200 because, I asked questions about the tool and they charge me to answer those. Tool that they force me to use. I'm a little bit annoyed. I admit I'm a little bit annoyed at that. To be clear: it's for my company, but since it's entreprie individuelle, they do my VAT stuff, and my early taxes.
I need to check maybe I can find one who does only the yearly and I do VAT myself.
