2nd day in a row that Maps app froze mid directions for > 10 minutes. I’ve never seen previous OS versions do that. Both times plenty of signal + downloaded maps. I bitch about bugs all the time but Maps is one app that really should never break.

@paul I finally tracked some of these delays down to offline maps, when you’ve got offline maps and are within a downloaded zone - the maps app is basically unusable with downloaded maps right now

@paul had Maps on CarPlay freeze on the car display a couple of times, years ago. As you only glance at it briefly, I didn’t notice for a good long while.

@timo @paul I’m also having the same thing sometimes (across several iOS Versions over the last years).
But: it’s not only Apple Maps but also Waze and Google Maps on CarPlay 🫣

@paul This happened to me in CarPlay the other day as well and I ended up driving the wrong way for 10 minutes before I noticed.

@paul YES! I got lost the other day because Maps stopped mapping, I didn’t have any downloaded map but signal was fine (audio stream never stopped). The screen just showed my location arrow very far off the given path.

@scj @paul Ditto. I don’t use downloaded maps and had a good signal with low buildings around.
I’ve had this happen twice. Once before ios26 and once after. I’ve had it freeze and the other time it lost its GPS lock. So it was wandering around lost.
