This 2017 Falling Man is in a great place. The only flaw was mine--it was served too cold. Once it warmed, this Dry Riesling blossomed, still showing the good structure, elegance and depth I expected,plus fresher fruit. Clean and beautifully balanced, it's ready to roll, but it has lots of time left.

Fun fact: the vineyard name comes from the steep slope to the vineyard--and what happens if you don't navigate your downward return well.12.4% alc, $40.

Falling since 2017, for a moment I thought it aged in orbit.
@chicob we do have certain wineries testing how wines age at the bottom of the ocean. Maybe this will be the next experiment😀

@MarkSquiresWine
Ervideira ages their Conde D'Ervideira "Vinho da Água" at the bottom of the Alqueva Dam.

Never tried it though.

@chicob The theory makes sense--consistency of temps, cold temps, no light, movement. A perfect cellar.

I have done some A-B comparisons (not Ervideira) and the wines do seem different, simply because the regular releases are a little more mature than the ocean-aged.

But the difference doesn't seem important enough to spend all this time and money on. The sea off of Santorini is no easy task.

@MarkSquiresWine
The Alqueva Dam is, well, a dam. Perhaps cheaper to age wines, specially in the long run, perhaps.

But I get your point. No space wine.
