I doubt this will go anywhere, but...

#Rails folks, here's an open letter asking the Rails Core to cut ties with DHH and hard fork Rails to a new project with proper governance.

You can sign with a pull request. Let's show that there's demand for this, and that the community won't appease racists.

@MoskitoHero thanks for being the first signature! Much appreciated. โค๏ธ
@Floppy I don't Rails on my own time but I'm going to bring it up at work tomorrow. We're a B corp, surely we should have an opinion on this stuff
@dan much appreciated! โค๏ธ

Calling all #Ruby on #Rails users, I eagerly await your PR signatures on this open letter to the Rails Core team, in which we call for a hard fork and adoption of a proper Code of Conduct, away from #DHH.

Not nothing, but not nearly enough. Keep spreading it around!

@Floppy as a non-ruby/rails dev I feel my signature would be disingenuous to add, but you can have my signal boosts all day.
@markkirschstein @Floppy yeah, this too. (I'm a rare bird that writes in ruby but doesn't use rails.)
@Floppy My understanding is that a significant portion of the core team are employed by Basecamp (or Shopify, who are no better), so I feel like any fork would have to be by someone outside the core team. I support that in principle but I donโ€™t know how likely/practical it is.
@benjamineskola that may be true. No idea how practical it is, but we have to try!
@Floppy @benjamineskola I hope no one is operating under the illusion that this would be easy (heck, we couldn't even have a Rails conference with a different keynote speaker, apparently). But unless and until there's a different plan than this fork petition, I'm at least in the "not opposed" camp.

@soaproot @benjamineskola definitely not easy at all! But nothing worth fighting for is... โค๏ธ

(btw, I'm entirely open to other plans that achieve the goal; maybe all this needs to do is kickstart the conversation)

@Floppy are pull requests from people that never used rails welcome?
