After lead singer Andrew Wood's death from a heroin overdose right before their first album was released, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament of Mother Love Bone would go on to found Pearl Jam. And the rest was history.
I actually learned of Mother Love Bone prior to Pearl Jam - I subscribed to a zine from Seattle and I had a friend who worked at a music store who gave me a copy.
This Friday, both Shine and Apple will be reissued on vinyl for the first time. I already have my pre-order in.
