I just watched this video and I can't deny that it has a strange inspirational effect.
I don't want to judge the person running that ... RBNB. Life is complicated and this place is full of history.
But imagine a story set in such a place. It would be such an amazing location for a post apocalyptic setting in a town, or a cyberpunk underdog setting. It reminds me to Kowloon the walled city.
And for the price if you desperately want to make it to Japan and live there...

and if you haven't heard about Kowloon the walled city this was also a real city (a part of Hong Kong)

@AnnaSaultron No surprise that this premise already has been used: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billennium_(short_story)

@slowtiger well that shouldn't hold anyone back right?
@AnnaSaultron Of course not! Good stories need to be told again and again, in their time.
@AnnaSaultron In fact this holds me back a lot - I've read my share of old literature and nearly always can find a predecessor to something I plan to write. I assume it's already done nicely so I don't need to even attempt, or I have to find a completely unique point to it to make it worth doing.
@slowtiger don't let yourself hold back from doing it, it's your story and no one ever can do it from your perspective. And you don't need to put it out directly if you're not ready yet. :)
