The FBI is reportedly trying to categorize trans people as “Nihilistic Violent Extremists” (NVEs).

They seem emboldened by the Kirk shooting despite the fact that it was not committed by a trans person.

If you’re cis, and especially if you’re cis and white, please step up.

Speak out. Protect trans people. This is a test to see if we’re willing to sacrifice the basic human rights of an entire group of people. We must say “no”.

Trans rights are human rights.

@broadwaybabyto @janeishly When Trump was elected I said trans people should GTFO of the US, better today than tomorrow (and women and scientists should too…). They will go after you like Hitler went after jews, because you are different and fascists need scapegoats.

@dgavin @broadwaybabyto @janeishly that’s wise in theory, but sadly that’s just not possible for a lot of people. Marginalised people are far more likely to be poor or otherwise unable to get the paperwork/passport/visas needed to legally leave. People in the US are seriously gonna have to make some tough choices from here on out… it’s not a choice I ever thought people would have to make in my lifetime, but alas this is what’s happening 😕💚

@Kabbaway @dgavin @broadwaybabyto @janeishly Yeah, I don't think most of us are convincing ourselves it won't be that bad, but moving requires resources that many people just don't have. Even moving to a different state, let alone a different country. I keep saying if people want me to relocate and they believe it to be so simple, they should step up and fund it for me and so far no one has. And I'm not even as disenfranchised as others I know of.

@greengaybles Honestly, if people from Somalia can cross half of Africa, the Mediterranean Sea and the EU fortress without so much as a dollar, US citizens can travel to Canada to ask for political asylum. Can you do so without risk? Probably not. Is the risk larger than staying in the US, waiting to be incarcerated? Up to you to decide.
