"Sorry, I can't. Under the current administration I don't feel safe and comfortable with traveling to the US so I need to pass. Thanks for asking."
@bagder I feel that way and I live here.
@bagder I just picture you at customs, whispering to the border agent “my code has been successfully injected into your PC and runs right now” - let’s see how they would fast track you to Guantanamo for that one 😄
@maxbob @bagder "my code runs on EVERY computer in this building"
@bagder
I just had a similar discussion with my employer. Company conference in Las Vegas in February, but I will not be attending.

@bagder I had to seriously prepare myself giving this answer to DeepComputings CEO since a visit to a US conference with DeepComputing was considered briefly.

Tbf I'd have to give the same answer if it were in the UK.

How exactly is this helpful for anyone again?

@bagder Absolutely. No good reason to travel to Trumpistan.
@bagder i never wanted to viait the usa since it's the biggest bully in this world since the end of world war 2
@bagder I don't blame you one bit. There has already been instances of innocent travelers being disrespectfully treated by so called legal authorities. To include American citizens.
@bagder i wish more would say this, though. this summer at the jersey shore, i saw no shortage of quebecoise.
@bagder I couldn't even get a visa if I wanted to, privileges of being trans I guess
@bagder I feel the same way, and I live in the US.
@bagder, I do not know if the US is already putting them in concentration camps, but people like Petra De Sutter cannot go to the US. https://www.politico.eu/article/belgium-ex-mep-petra-de-sutter-quit-trade-mission-us-donald-trump-lgbtq-policies/
Transgender ex-MEP quits trade mission to US over Trump’s LGBTQ+ policies

“I simply can’t go there,” said Petra De Sutter, Belgium’s former deputy prime minister.

POLITICO
@bagder, the answer is, they are already putting them in concentration camps or worse, but not all of them.

@bagder
A disaster waiting to happen that I only heard about just recently:

The Pokemon World Championships are scheduled to take place in San Francisco this season.

@bagder I have traveled extensively for work.
I felt genuinely safe in most places.
Unfortunately, the US has never been one of them.
One kinds of expects being searched for weapons in many parts of the developing world, but that happening in the US felt strangely eerie.
I have not visited in 6 years. But hearing these recent events, I will not.
I don’t even have any mainstream social media presence. They would surely question me for hours.
