Fun fact, pretty much all #Fediverse software other than #Mastodon have been able to quote post for years 😉 But there's other options that don't turn very accessible text into less accessible imagery, such as boosting/retooting, or just copy-pasting it into a new toot.

It's going from 0 to 100 pretty quick to state someone hates people with slow internet just because they had an image in their post.

By intent or just by lack of reason is irrelevant, the result is the same and it's weird behaviour nonetheless.
