Link Post: Samsung confirms its $1,800+ fridges will start showing you ads (and so I will never buy one) https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-confirms-smart-refrigerator-ads-are-coming-3598848/

@andrewducker

I can't see that an expensive fridge will cool any better than a less expensive one 🙂🤷‍♂️

@andrewducker Dear Samsung,
Go fuck yourself.
kthxbye.

@andrewducker

How many people around the world have felt that they actually needed a "smart fridge", and bought one?

Ten?

@andrewducker I like it when companies give me clear guidance for making future buying decisions.

@andrewducker

Could we please stop letting Charlie Brooker write reality.

@andrewducker

Next step: AI observing you to make sure you watch an advertisement before it unlocks your fridge--one advert=10 seconds before the door slams shut and engages the locking mechanism.

@andrewducker finally an ad Screen for my home!
@andrewducker I have so little sympathy for ppl who buy this shit when a functionally superior normal fridge is $500-700. Play stupid status symbol games, win stupid status symbol prizes.
@andrewducker You could buy a model without a screen.

@andrewducker

I confess it eludes me why one would want an internet connected fridge in the frist place. I just don't see the use case...?

@cavyherd @andrewducker To become better consumers, of course.

@plumingmorse @andrewducker

Ah. Yes. Silly me. A lifelong ambition. Of course.

@andrewducker introducing SmartShirt, the shirt with a screen on the breastpocket with wifi and AI that will track your location, heartbeat, and political commentary with friends and colleagues
@andrewducker I wouldn't have that fridge in my house if it were free. I wouldn't have it in the house if they paid me, for that matter
@andrewducker Just wipe them and install Doom instead.
Not in my house!
At filling stations I don't care if the pumps show ads but I very much object to the audible pollution.
@andrewducker omg hell is here on Earth!
@andrewducker minority report here we come…hi tech police state and hi tech advertising through biometrics and household appliances
@andrewducker
Sometimes it's a blessing being thrifty. None of our basic model devices are 'smart'. They just have switches and dials. My wife and I are smart enough to manage a fridge.
