No sweeping view from the summit, but we could see North and Middle Carter mountains.

At the entrance to. the forest, a pair of tiny red-breasted nuthatches came fairly close to the trail to *observe* me. So delighted, I left them a tiny bit of my trail mix on the ground.

Then this charming slitheren took a good look at yours truly. I’m afraid I’ve inadvertently interrupted the sunbathing.

Encountered two American Red squirrels—the first one was busy and didn’t even have time for a quick photo, but the second one deeper in the conifer forest was curious about this trespasser.

While taking a breather and sipping water, I noticed a small white moth desperately fluttering to free from the spider’s silk by the trailside. It appeared that the spider wasn’t interested in it, so I used my hiking stick to set it free. The moth circled above me, and flew away to live another night. 🤍🦋✨
