Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park is a year-round naturist park near Toronto in Canada where the entire family can experience traditional naturist values in a modern setting. We are nestled among the natural wilderness of the Ontario Greenbelt and Oak Ridges Moraine. Our varied landscape includes open spaces, forests, ponds, streams and a small lake. We also have many recreational facilities. Our clubhouse provides year-round amenities including saunas and a whirlpool. Bare Oaks offers day-use memberships and seasonal campsites but also welcomes visitors and travellers. Some might use the terms nudist and nudism to describe us and what we do. But we prefer naturist andRead More →

@Crissy I should visit- was gonna go but I lived in Wpg, then went to Europe.......

@AnnaG31 @Crissy

I live a couple hours drive away. If you're ever in SW Ontario we should plan a visit for the same weekend!

@WIREID91LDNON @Crissy @AnnaG31 can I join the Canadian Nudie Mastodon Meetup? It’ll take a bit more planning as I’m in B.C…

@renudist I'm in BC. My profile says I love Wreck Beach (Vancouver)! I do like the Canadian Nude Mastodon Meetup. And if you're heading east, for sure go meetup with Guillaume! BTW, I love that you're advocating for #ChooseNude and representing #FKK on #fedi :)

@WIREID91LDNON thanks but i currently have no plans to visit Ontario due to my current responsibilities that keep me tied to BC RN (caring for a 17-year old rescue cat and don't wanna be gone if she does kick the bucket).

Also: haven't met @[email protected] yet but IDK if she'd be going to Bare Oaks coz I haven't been able to reply to her comment (Sorry). I do hope she/you all go and have a good time there!

@Crissy I love Wreck Beach too! I seem to get there about every other weekend in the summer (hoping for one more outing, but it's not looking promising!). A few weeks ago, I managed to connect with @Raelynn there; so there are at least three fedizens who frequent it. I'll let you both know the next time I go so you can avoid me or not as you like.

Thanks for your kindness around #ChooseNude. It actually started because of Wreck Beach. During the COVID lockdowns, I opined on Facebook that I wished it were nude rather than clothing optional. I got roundly shot down, and so I invented the cartoon as a way to encourage people to opt out of clothes if they have the option. I never shared it on FB because I was never sure who would see the post, and I wasn't ready to have that conversation with my sister. I've now talked to my sister, but also deleted my accounts on FB (they are still tracking me, I'm certain), so the cartoons are still not serving their original intent!

@WIREID91LDNON and @AnnaG31 , to be honest, I'd probably have to plan a trip to Bare Oaks around my daughter's trips to and from McMaster. It's probably more of a pipe dream at this point. I'll be sure to let you know if it comes to fruition!

@renudist @Crissy @Raelynn @AnnaG31

Yeah, that's cool! I'm glad masto has a pretty cool little nudist/naturist/FKK community. Definitely easier to talk about and represent that community here than on FB or most other socials.

@WIREID91LDNON gotta say it but FB has some people who I suspect were just in the groups on Wreck just to keep track of the convos to see if it was safe to go there. (Honestly you can also do that on Reddit).

The history shows that it keeps getting more and more unfriendly for some regulars and new to the #FKK #naturist scene because it's not a completely nude beach (it should be).

The clothing optional part of it is a problem when the people who refuse to remove clothes openly ogle, laugh, gossip, or photograph the ones who are regular nudists.

I've chosen to leaveFB and IG since Fediverse is home now. My experience of being body positive (previously posted artistic nudes for a photoshoot) for followers-only was met with someone reporting me and being shut down for a month.

Thank goodness #fedi is more free and I like how we can openly discuss #choosenude here

That's a very good point. Of course most social media sites will censor nudity, but it's especially frustrating that many will censor even talking about nudity or discussing FKK topics.

I saw recently that Germany converted all of their clothing-optional beaches to nude-obligatory ones. I think that is a good step forward to deterring voyeurs and gawkers. But I wonder if it may deter casually interested people.

@renudist howdy, I tend to go weekdays summer at Wreck to avoid the crowds but the beach is big enough and I go variable times so I don't think avoiding anyone is necessary LOL

Glad to hear @Raelynn is enjoying Wreck and y'all met! I read one of her posts and honestly, I too feel that i.e. I'm one of the only people hiking the trails in the nude more recently (with a friend who is half nude). We would be the only ones and doing so with most people were fully clothed. Some days it annoys me. Some I couldn't care less coz it's hot AF and I get easily warm so i need to be clothing free.

I think Wreck should just be nude too (not clothing optional) but enforcing that would be hard. I would like to see that someday.

I've been going there awhile now (discovered it as a coed at UBC and was happy to find a like-minded community)

Recently many people who take pics and ogle in groups who shouldn't be (referring to the clumps of South Asian males with phones in their pocket or openly snapping pics of girls).

@Crissy @Raelynn
The only thing better than a day at Wreck is a weekday at Wreck! I had never walked the foreshore trail to Trail 7 until I went to meet Raelynn, who was was at Oasis. Like you, I was the only nudie, but then I only saw about half a dozen others. I usually walk in from Trail 4 because I like the little hike along the beach.

I don't think it would be necessary or possible to enforce nudity. However, if the signs said "nude beach ahead," instead of "clothing optional beach ahead," it would make it clear that nudity is more expected. I liken it to the "off-leash dog area": nobody will complain if you take your leashed dog, but the expectation is that your dog will not be leashed. I also believe that if the beach were "nude" then there would be fewer safety concerns, as those seem to ratchet up later in the day when the beach gets more crowded and more textile.

I've not seen as many of those little groups of oglers this year. Last year, a couple of us addressed several of the groups directly. TBH, I think I could have chosen a better way, but then so could they!

Its a plan but now we are getting into cool season haha..........

@AnnaG31 @renudist @Crissy @Raelynn

Maybe next summer? I assume BodyFest will be about the same time next year.

@WIREID91LDNON @AnnaG31 @Crissy @Raelynn BodyFest looks like a lot of fun!

I went to one of the early BodyFests years ago, and it was definitely a good time. Hard to have a bad time at Bare Oaks though, it’s a really great place.
