Nintendo’s Switch Mario Galaxy collection will retail for $70 - Lemmy.World

Lemmy

in 2020, they made people pay 60$ for 3 old games. people thought it was ridiculous.

in 2025, they’re making you pay 70$ for 2 old games.

lmao

And then there’s me, who bought the trilogy, and will now buy the duology, so I’m getting 4 games for $130.
You’re just scamming yourself at this point
That’s kind of what I’m saying.

A Mark - Slang Meaning and Examples - FastSlang

The term "A Mark" is a slang term used to describe an individual who is considered to be gullible or easily manipulated. This person is often seen as an easy target for scams, cons, and other forms of deception. A Mark is typically someone who lacks street smarts and common sense, making them vulnerable to those who would take advantage of their naivety. The origins of the term can be traced back to the world of con artists and grifters, who would refer to their targets as "marks". These marks were seen as easy prey, and the con artists would use various tactics to gain their trust and then swindle them out of their money or possessions. Over time, the term has evolved to encompass a broader range of individuals who are perceived as being easily fooled. This can include people who are overly trusting, overly optimistic, or simply unaware of the risks and dangers that exist in the world around them. While some may view being a Mark as a negative trait, others see it as a sign of innocence and purity. They believe that those who are more trusting and open-hearted are better able to connect with others and experience the joys of life. Regardless of one's perspective, it is important to recognize that being a Mark can have serious consequences. Those who are too trusting and naive may find themselves taken advantage of by unscrupulous individuals who seek to exploit their vulnerabilities. In order to avoid becoming a Mark, it is important to stay informed and aware of the risks and dangers that exist in the world around us. This means staying up-to-date on current events, educating ourselves about common scams and cons, and being cautious when dealing with strangers or unfamiliar situations. At the end of the day, being a Mark is not something to be proud of. While it may be tempting to let down our guard and trust others completely, we must always remember that there are those who would seek to take advantage of our vulnerabilities. By staying vigilant and aware, we can protect ourselves from harm and avoid becoming just another Mark in a long line of victims.

Cool, thanks… I’m doing it for my kids. I know full well I’m being scammed. But my love for my kids doesn’t care. I live playing these games together with them and it’s worth every penny.

Bragging with financial stupidity.

But where you are right now it’s like saying “I voted conservative” in the highest amount of democratic voters where you’ll get lynched for voted conservative.

I’m… I’m not bragging though? It’s just another situation/combination, like I said. And it’s been years now since I bought the 3D All Stars games, over time this doesn’t amount to a lot of money per year, or especially per month. My kids play all the time. The games have almost paid for themselves. 🥰 Watching them experience what I did when I was a kid. It’s been great.

Are people angry that I somehow “wasted” my money? I don’t get it.

Dunno.
But (I feel like) every cent paid to Nintendo is too much.
They make great games (at times) but demand so much more for so little progress it’s not quite justifiable anymore.

And some of Lemmy (probably) feel similar to that sentiment.

I agree that Nintendo is crummy for the price tag, and it’s a smoke screen for not having any AAA Mario or Zelda ready for the new console. But my nostalgia and my kids are just simply winning. It’s definitely a 🥰🤮 kind of situation. Can’t help myself. Icky…
