If you post a website link on Mastodon, remember to include https:// at the beginning so that it is clickable.

When you include https:// you get a clickable link like https://example.com and you may also see a link preview box below the post.

If you leave out https:// you just get a non-clickable address like example.com and no preview.

🤓 Special Bonus Tip For Nerds: You can also use other protocols for clickable links including gemini://, dat://, dweb://, gopher://, ipfs:// and ssb://

I think there's a secondary limit of 500 actual characters for the link itself. But I've never seen a legitimate link that couldn't be posted 🙂
