We’ve thought carefully about building this feature, and we hope it broadens your use of Mastodon!

However, you're in control: if you don’t want your content to be quoted, you can find the setting to prevent future quotes of your content under Settings -> Preferences -> Other (in Mastodon 4.4).

@Mastodon Quick question that I'm not seeing in the FAQ or docs: when is something a `Quote` and when is something a `ShallowQuote`? In what cases should I expect each?

@tylrfishr @Mastodon Quotes can be nested. The nested quote will be shallow to prevent recursion.

@Gargron Wdym by "shallow" ? Surface Level ?
That is not the actual technical term I hope ? 🙀 Furthermore what limit(s) does nesting Quotes have ? (This could be a nightmare ... i'd like to see the Json-D)
