@EUCommission "Europe must fight for its freedom" as if Europe were a person. Hellooo? WE, THE PEOPLE are Europe, I AM Europe. And if you make #ChatControl mandatory you take a piece of my #freedom away

Hello @ranx!
Let us be clear: under this proposal, there is no general monitoring of online communications. There will be no such thing as “chat control”.

Only material that is clearly child sexual abuse will be searched for and can be detected.

Detection orders can only be issued by judicial or independent administrative authorities at the end of a thorough process to assess necessity and proportionality, balancing all the fundamental rights at stake.

@EUCommission @ranx

I have a question about: "Only material that is clearly child sexual abuse will be searched for and can be detected."

How? How will one determine when it's "sexual abuse" on all media? One has to scan each and every single media file to find these, I do not see any other way

Don't get me wrong, I would love a better way to deal with CSAM content but scanning all to find the few is not the way

@stux @EUCommission @ranx

For any system to scan for any content, it needs the data to be unencrypted.

So, if this system is a legal requirement, it also makes end-to-end encryption illegal because it requires giving authorities some kind of method to decrypt anything that any user sends or receives.

Regardless of how it is intended to be used, this system will give authorities the technical ability to monitor anything said by anyone, regardless of whether an order has been sought or not. That is really dangerous, it's getting into Stasi territory.

@EUCommission
if chat control really works as you suggest (it can't, but let's assume), why does the proposal include an exemption for EU officials? if we have nothing to worry about, surely that's true for them too, right?
you wouldn't lie to us, right?
@FediThing @stux @ranx

@Yuvalne @EUCommission

Should add I'm a huge supporter of the European Union in general and very grateful to be part of it, but on the chat control issue the EU is wrong.

@FediThing @Yuvalne @EUCommission ofc it's so wrong that I'll never comply as a matter of principle.

  • And I know that in retaliation they'll plant shit on me.

Worked for #JörgTauss when he debunked #Zensursula...

@Yuvalne @FediThing @stux @ranx because they are the #1 source of sexual exploitation.

  • Like if Belgian Police were to search @EUCommission & @europarl_en and not find at least 1kg of Cocaine, 1GB of CSAM and 1 CSA victim then they are criminally incompetent.

Pre-announced and coordinated raids don't count!
