Hot take: folks are very much underestimating how important reasomanly fast and accurte typing is
We Are Typists First, Programmers Second

Remember last week when I said coding was just writing? I was wrong. As one commenter noted, it’s even simpler than that. [This] reminds me of a true “Dilbert moment” a few years ago, when my (obviously non-technical) boss commented that he never understood why it took months to

Coding Horror

@codinghorror Unfortunately, especially if read quickly or not until the end, this perpetuates the incorrect belief that a sizeable portion of a developer’s time is spent typing, which was not as problem until it started being used to justify the use of LLMs to make developers appealed more efficient.

And even your valid example of typing faster helping with ADHD is not applicable to LLMs.

@codinghorror You are not *that* interesting.

This is an old post that will be misinterpreted en masse and used to justify LLM use in coding because the nuance comes too little, too late. Keep it buried.
