Thank goodness utilities aren't allowed to price gouge. 🙄
@ai6yr at a point does it just make more sense to have power companies owned & operated by municipalities like Riverside does it?
@Finitum @ai6yr Yes, or even better the State.

@Finitum @ai6yr

I didn't know Riverside had a public utility. LADWP is pretty awesome as far as utilities go. No pre-emptive power outages because they maintain their equipment and do brush clearance. No rolling blackouts because they have a huge pumped hydro facility to store solar and supplement the grid when solar drops off. etc. etc.

It makes no sense for necessarily monopolistic ventures to be for-profit.

@exador23 @Finitum HOW ARE EXECUTIVES SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR THEIR YACHTS?!?!?!
@ai6yr Funny how the electric companies can spend their money on bonuses and dividends first, and never quite get around to their infrastructure, that is left to fail. But customers will pay the brunt of it so they can keep giving themselves bonuses and paying out dividends and of course, purchasing legislation.
