Aged like milk
It’s like the paradox of being intolerant of intolerance.
Can we morally allow fascism? It is like a cancer to democracy and I don’t think killing cancer cells is wrong.
Nono, it’s not a paradox for where it starts, but for where it ends. OFC we shouldn’t tolerate hateful disruptors. Though once a war turns hot, it can be very difficult to tell who is the true agressor. Especially when both sides are calling each other all sorts of nasty things. To an ignorant, both sides can look the same, and there are a lot of ignorant people.
It’s not a paradox for the principles it describes, but the reality it creates. Calling it a paradox is a stark warning to avoid becoming the intolerant and to never lose the context of who is doing what and what for. If you boil it down to, “don’t start none, won’t be none”, then you’ve already lost the context.
I am. It’s a reality of humanity. Most of us would like peace myself included. But to have peace, you have to be able to defend it. You can’t be passive. It’s kind of the idea of why you would have military, people ready and willing to fight to preserve the peace from those that end peace.
My great-grandfather wasn’t exactly sad when he helped take down the Nazis. And I’m not going to be particularly sad when taking down a neo-Nazi. Sorry, they like to be called maga now.
