Le concept de purification résonne de manière paradoxale dans cette installation, entre matérialité, spiritualité et technicité. Le stérilisateur à sec des artistes iraniens Maryam Katan et Shaahin Peymani s’expose comme une machinerie futuriste projetant de la lumière verte et une animation nous parlant de purification. L’installation reprend en partie les paroles proférées par le prédicateur Morteza Motahari, un des premiers théoriciens du système de la République Islamique. Ce dernier parle de purifier son âme en refusant la vision matérialiste et capitaliste de l’ouest. Les artistes relèvent le paradoxe entre ce discours et le lieu où il le profère : la mosquée Al-djawad à Téhéran, première mosquée de la capitale à avoir une architecture moderne et qui a été repeinte en 2016 d’une peinture vendue pour purifier l’air.

The concept of purification resonates in a paradoxical way in this installation, between materiality, spirituality and technicality. The dry sterilizer by Iranian artists Maryam Katan and Shaahin Peymani is exposed as a futuristic machinery projecting green light and an animation telling us about purification. The installation is partly based on the words of the preacher Morteza Motahari, one of the first theorists of the Islamic Republic's system. The latter speaks of purifying one's soul by refusing the materialistic and capitalist vision of the West. The artists note the paradox between this speech and the place where he says it: the Al-djawad mosque in Tehran, the first mosque in the capital to have a modern architecture and which was repainted in 2016 with a paint sold to purify the air.
