Is there a MacOS window manager that works like tmux sessions? I want to group windows from various apps into a session and hide everything else. Spaces might’ve worked but they’re too app-centric, e.g. I want to pin windows to a space, not entire apps.
@jimray *extremely unhelpful mastodon voice* erm have you tried the i3 tiling window manager in LINUX????
@powerllama I saw DHH demoing some tiling windowing thing with a suped up launcher doohickey and it was almost enough to make me install it in a VM. Almost.
@jimray I hate to say it but the Linux ux has caught up, especially with how down the toilet the Mac ux is going. lots of my friends have switched full time, we really are approaching the year of Linux on the desktop
@powerllama @jimray No joke, if nothing else, sway could be the only reason I use Linux.

@jimray I cannot compare it to tmux, but Stage Manager groups Windows not apps. It sounds like what you want.

I use it, but find it very frustrating. Every new window *always* gets a new group, so you’re constantly swapping around.

But it’s better than spaces, and better than everything in one space.

@lkanies hmmmm… my last go with stage manager wasn’t great. Will give it another look thanks!
@jimray it has changed a lot over the years, I think. But… I’m not exactly recommending it, just saying it has that particular feature 👀
@jimray Following with interest. I use multiple user accounts to try to do this. /sad
