It's all about The Prisoner's Dilemma. The rich and the powerful have too many of us convinced that, if we join a union, we will never be either rich or powerful ourselves.

Fact is, most of us will never be rich or powerful no matter what. By joining together, we can be better off than we are, by quite a bit. But that's a hard sell in a world where it is possible for a grifter to become the president, and a jack-ass to become the world's richest man.

Professor, you are one of the few voices of reason and wisdom I will always listen to in this day and age. But, please, particularly when you are posting images with nothing but words, so more people are able to know what you have to say, add the alt text some folks depend on.

@rbreich Yeah, but if you side with the worthless parasites you might get a leg up on all the other workers struggling to get by. Any family man would be silly to pass this up. You do want a legacy, yeah? Or do you want to let your children get eaten by men strong enough to do what needs doing for theirs?

So that's how you think and act and then they laugh when you build their palaces for them. "Look at all these idiots giving us parasites the world just because we said someone else might!"
