The USDA is giving the public just three weeks to weigh in on a key step of its attempt to scrap the #RoadlessRule, which protects almost 59 million acres of forest land from road construction and timber harvesting.

@dhpomerantz Anything we should be putting in our comments other than "Don't do it!" and such?
@Sparhawk2k that’s the gist of it. Forests are more than the tress. Roadless forests are wild places that create habitats for many animals. Also huge carbon sinks.
@dhpomerantz Got any good resources for filing statements that are geared toward this?
@dhpomerantz Do we have any reason to believe they will do anything with the comments other than ignore them?

Sadly, it is unlikely to impact their immediate action, but
1. Silence=assent
2. Large numbers of comments in opposition may be useful evidence in the almost inevitable legal challenge
