I gave https://ghostty.org another month of usage. Mostly for launching 4 or 5 tabs per project, but I can never seem to catch up to the end of a running stream with it.

There is also no ⌘F to find text in thousands of lines of logs using it.

If you are going to tell me about grep and some shell/bash/zsh trickery commands, I'll block you and save us both time.

Am I missing some obvious feature to make this usable, or is this just a glam shell that people think is pretty?

1.3.0 - Release Notes

Release notes for Ghostty 1.3.0, released on March 9, 2026.

Ghostty
@webology exact same reason I couldn’t stick with it.
@webology search functionality is coming in 1.3 - time to revisit then ? https://x.com/mitchellh/status/1960462516514918619?s=46
For me it's all about the speed / lightness and compatibility with my tools. What are you going back to ? Iterm?

Ghostty 1.2 (coming in Sept) is absolutely rock solid and extremely polished. I can't wait to get this into everyone's hands soon. Sorry, search and scrollbars are deferred to 1.3, but we're nearing the finish line of what I'd consider the "best existing terminal" I've had for

@marcmagnin Thank you for the heads up. I'll try again once that lands. I'm watching several issues related but I feel like after two years, it was never going to happen.
@webology I keep trying it out every so often but still using kitty. I thought they must have considered search and sure enough there's an issue with the last comment from Feb https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/issues/189
Search scrollback · Issue #189 · ghostty-org/ghostty

A major missing feature is the ability to search scrollback, i.e. cmd+f on Mac, ctrl+F on Linux. This issue can be implemented in multiple steps, not just one giant PR: Core search functionality in...

@webology I had the same experience. It’s a neat shell but I left for one that just worked (and might not be compliant in ways the ghostty is)
@webology I think search is planned but not implemented yet.
