#math / #physics people, do you sometimes have concepts from those fields enter your dreams?

I had one particularly striking poetic dream back when I was thinking about string /F-theory pheno in Heidelberg.

I had spent the entire week trying to figure out the effective fields around a particular strongly interacting object called a p-q-Brane. It has the peculiar property that certain fields in the effective theory are not single valued but transform to a different value when you go around the brane or string once back to the same spot, a monodromy.
So I was handling this stuff for days, doing simulations and calculations.

That night, I had a vivid dream that a kolibri-like bird flew towards me, flew around my back and emerged on the other side as a Bumblebee. In my dream, I had a monodromy!

@Quantensalat if I get to a point where I can do math in a dream and it actually survives the transition to reality, that's usually a warning sign that I'm about to work myself into a sick-bed
@Quantensalat I once had a very vivid dream about the electron distribution in aromatic rings. It hasn’t progressed science.
@venite
As evidenced by my rather limited carreer in F theory models, my bumblebee monodromy didn't exactly win me a nobel prize either ;)

@venite @Quantensalat

Still, these dreams shared with us, give us a hint of the world's deeper beauty and wonder.

I am thankful.

@Quantensalat Not dreams per se, but my brain seems to switch to math mode when I'm really tired. Once I tried to brush my teeth while half asleep and started worrying that I hadn't checked all the conditions for the tooth brushing theorem to apply.
@deltarays Haha..that sounds exactly like the wild half asleep mixture you sometimes get
