'Lies of P' on the Mac App Store: €59.99

'Lies of P' on Steam: €29.99 (on sale today), and comes with both the Mac and Windows versions

Gaming on the Mac App Store is predicated on duping customers that know no better, which seems like a terrible way to run a platform

@stroughtonsmith another example, Cyberpunk 2077 on the Mac App Store - £69.99, and on Steam (with both Windows and Mac versions), £49.99 (although you can get it at half that price on the cd key sites)
@stroughtonsmith True, I’m always shocked by the Mac App Store prices. Usually can be found cheaper on other storefronts. Nice to have easily available, competing stores on Mac, not like iOS…
@stroughtonsmith Lies of P is also the current free game of the month for PlayStation+ subscribers 😅
@stroughtonsmith The Mac App Store seems like its good for the very specific avenue of "I don't want to deal with purchases" and nothing else

@stroughtonsmith I get your point, but isn’t pricing up to the publisher? They could drop the price if they wanted to.

(The cross-platform aspect is another matter)

I’m not sure why they do so, selectively, on only Steam.

@stroughtonsmith don’t forget the idiocy of defaulting to not let iOS games (or apps) to run on macOS with Apple Silicon. And if that is a necessity then not pushing hard on devs to having that enabled. There are so many great games that would run beautifully on the Mac that are absurdly missing.
@stroughtonsmith pretty much the same with every other multiplatform game.

@stroughtonsmith In Argentina it's USD 59.99 on Mac App Store and USD 17.99 on Steam.

Does Apple even let developers set a lower price per country, or is it only per currency?
