Turns out the Nintendo Switch dock works for other devices too if you try hard enough

I did get it to dock with a generic/RadioShack/the-source dongle that has usb-c <=> [usb-a, HDMI, usb-c]
When I used a 15V/2.6A power adapter, it would almost consistently work. Occasionally I needed to depower the the dongle before it would engage properly.
I did need to use a phone stand to ensure airflow.
Re: docking station... Nothing works with my MSI laptop. Turns out they had just done enough to get a thunderbolt logo, but not enough to use the USBC/tb port for much besides providing power.
@RyeNCode @xy oh, yeah USB-C is magic in that it does incredible things and also that it’s arcane and fickle. Does this port support power delivery? Lightning bolt says probably. Does this cable? The box said so, but no. Does this port support DisplayPort pass thru? How many screens and at what refresh rate? 🤷♂️

@xy be *very* careful: the Switch USB-C PSU doesn’t do proper PD negotiation or offer the full range of power profiles. You may damage non-Nintendo hardware 😬
