Hi, so, Smutlandia died and I just did not have the spoons to find a new server before that happened.

I thought I had until the end of the month, but I looked today and everything was just gone.

Please bear with me while I try to make connections again. I have lost all my followers, my profile, everything. It's not even on the WayBack Machine. I don't really have more energy than I did before. It will take me a minute to sort things out. If you see this please RT to help me find my people.

I should say, I don't blame the proprietor of Smutlandia at all for my forgetfulness. I had notice, I'm just really limited with the number of things I can do at the moment, and a lot has been going on.

I will do a proper intro post soon, but for now: *waves hello* to wandering shop!

I write SF/F/H spicy romance and erotica. I will CW anything spicy. I hope I can make a home here 💕

My lovely baby cat is insisting I stop typing now...

@rubyjones

a) that's TERRIBLE news; a Smutlandia address was always an instant follow for me; and

b) wandering.shop seems like a very good place for you to have landed -- so many of my favorite authors who came to the fediverse are there.

@ErosBlog 😅 it's where I have my other account. I wanted to keep them separate before, but I have no energy to find somewhere else now and I like it here.

But yeah, I'm sad to see Smutlandia go. Completely understand why, though. I occasionally contributed to coats, but I don't think many did, and the person running it didn't have the time to keep up with it anymore. I totally respect that.

@rubyjones oh no. Welcome back. Hope you are able to find time/energy to sort things out.
@mindpersephone 💕 thank you! And thank you for finding and following me!
@rubyjones
If you can remember one person, look through their follows and followers. Shared interests could result in them having connections with many of the same people.
@leeloo yeah, I plan to, but I'm chronically ill and everything takes energy and time.
@rubyjones If this helps at all, this was the cached version of your original profile. Good luck recreating your network 🙂
@jochie well done on finding this! I couldn't get it when I tried! Thank you!
@rubyjones Did you originally use one of the tools to find followers from the bad place that had moved to masto ? Could possibly try running that again, or maybe even find the intermediate file that some generated which you could re-import.

@hatter I did for my other account, but I don't think I did for this one. I had far fewer followers on Twitter for my nsfw books and there were way fewer erotica writers on here at the time. I mostly built up the followers from searching for people who were into similar things, getting involved in hashtag games, and a more popular friend who put me on a 'recommended follow' list that other people imported.

There are things I can do like post to hashtags abd groups I've used, but it takes spoons

@rubyjones i wish you best of luck!!!

one thing that bothers me a little bit about fedi is how hard it can be to find new connections in a given interest topic sometimes

i mean sure you can click hashtags, or you can be on a topic-focused instance and use the local posts feature, but if there is a silver lining to content promotion algorithms, it's that they can provide an assorted feed and always refresh it with new stuff

but for the record, i think its a conscious and worthwhile decision to have things the way they are, im generally happy with fedi uwu

@wallabra to be honest, I did find it easier here than on Twitter. I was able to build a decent following much quicker. Part of that was joining at the right time, but on Twitter the algorithm was an active hindrance. So many people posting solely with the algorithm in mind, very hard to find people actually interested in you, and then impossible for a new voice to get taken up by the algorithm to be heard.

It's not just my general dislike; I never found it useful at all.

@rubyjones I find it easier on Bluesky but I have experienced the fact that, in Mastodon, hashtags actually mean something, and it's honestly crazy
@rubyjones Ah shit, that sucks.
@Fredatron yeah, it does. It's my own fault for not getting organised sooner, but there are only so many things I can both do and remember to do.
@rubyjones
I hope you find your people.
