@AdventuresofRangerSarah I guess I'm too early for the part of the photo-sequence where she murders campers

@AdventuresofRangerSarah That's exciting! Montana has some incredible crystal collecting opportunities. What type of crystals are you hoping to find in that area? The geology up there can produce some real surprises - always love seeing what fellow rockhounds discover in new spots!
@agatesfrommexico That particular spot was just nice quartz crystals. Have gone to Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge to dig for Selenite Crystals, one of the few places in the world they form an hourglass crystal shape.
@AdventuresofRangerSarah That's fascinating! Selenite forming hourglass twins at Salt Plains is such a unique geological phenomenon - the sand inclusions trapped during crystal growth create those distinctive patterns. Quartz crystals are always a treat to find too, especially when they're well-formed. Thanks for sharing your collecting adventures! 🔍

@AdventuresofRangerSarah That's exciting! Beaverhead-Deerlodge has some fantastic collecting opportunities. What are you hoping to find out there? The geology in that area can produce some real surprises!
@agatesfrommexico found some nice quartz crystals.
@AdventuresofRangerSarah Thanks! Quartz and agate are both silica (SiO₂) but form under different conditions - agate's rhythmic banding comes from periodic silica deposition in cavities, while quartz crystals grow freely in open spaces. The chemistry's the same, but the stories they tell are completely different! 🔮

@AdventuresofRangerSarah Beautiful terminations on those quartz crystals! Crystal Park is such a classic collecting spot. The clarity and natural faces on those specimens are fantastic - you can really see the hexagonal crystal system at work. Nothing beats finding your own crystals in the field!
@AdventuresofRangerSarah If there's a lake near by I'd steer clear of it, especially if there's a camp site adjacent.
