If Bluesky is not going to take user safety seriously and will punish the targets of abuse rather than the abusers, then I'm going to seriously consider slowly transitioning my microblogging back to either Spoutible or Mastodon.

@MarzGurl consider that, regardless of the platform, your safety is your responsibility not that of the platform.

in fact I would argue that the nature of standing on a platform is inherently unsafe and if you can't pull your head in when you need to or roll with the punches when you need to or just block and forget when you need to then no platform is going to have a better result. not Bluesky, not Fedi, not the next-quirkily-named-safe-space.

@Cat Okay, you do not have an understanding of the unique and specific issue I am having, because blocks ARE good and useful and helpful, EXCEPT when the platform takes away your ability to do so as well as the advertised ability to share those blocks with other people. I don't typically have issues, except for when a platform decides that the target is actually the REAL abuser.

@MarzGurl not really, it's the same story on any platform - this specific instance is bsky for sure, but a centralised platform having its own nebulous terms of use and haphazard application of their stated terms and a complete lack of contactable support is par for the course.

@Cat This is specifically in relation to a feature that is unique to Bluesky. You're the one who said I should just block (a thing I do exceedingly liberally on every platform), and the feature I am talking about is DIRECTLY RELATED to blocking.

@Cat If you have followed me for any amount of time, you should know damn well what "rolling with it" under a years-long intense mass harassment campaign has been like. Unless you know what it's like at that scale, this advice is not useful to someone under my specific circumstance.
