Jessie Gender's account on Bluesky suspended seemingly because she said "I also wish ill will to JK Rowling" https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:zy7ifa3dmd46dcrbjkgkg2xz/post/3lwiszke4bk2x

I also wish ill to JK Rowling (and encourage you to do the same here, in protest) [contains quote post or other embedded content]

Bluesky Social
I encourage everyone to wish ill will upon JK Rowling, here and, if you have a Bluesky account, please do so there as well. If you get suspended, please share that information here.
JK Rowling, I curse you, from a distance. I will not personally harm you, because that's not the kind of person I am. But I wish you bad luck: that your bad karma eats at you, that your shows and books sell poorly, that your bad reputation catch up to you in the general public's eye.
@cwebber what a weird rule.

@evan @cwebber

"weird /wîrd/
adjective

Strikingly odd or unusual, especially in an unsettling way; strange. "

I'm no english native speaker, so i look things up.

Yes, strange, but i can somehow understand the why.

(Still i cannot understand why they put a burden like this on the moderators).

@lobingera @cwebber it feels very broad. Does "harm" include failure? If I wish that the Netanyahu government fails to eradicate Palestinians in Gaza, is that wishing them harm? Or does it only include physical harm?
@evan @cwebber It is broad. And so are many CoCs to simplify a/() very complex and diverse situation(s).
@lobingera @evan @cwebber I suspect social media platforms have special rules for certain people. I could probably tell an average person "I hope an anvil falls on your head" and nothing would be done.

@Nazani @evan @cwebber True, until someone sends your post to moderation.

It''s all about context - and many people using SocMedia deliberately choose to get rid of context.

(that''s my observation)

@katzenberger @cwebber Yes, that's me. I've known Kaliya for a long time and didn't know about her views on trans rights at that time.
@katzenberger I can confirm that @evan didn't know, since @evan and I talked about the situation, and Evan responded thoughtfully as information became available.

@cwebber

I trust you with your recall of what @evan said, but I certainly do not trust him though.

@katzenberger I've had them blocked for quite some time, they are not a very nice person

@webhat

Being nice is not required.

I have had the questionable pleasure of interacting with him here on his meetings with Meta (demonstrably as early as Dec 2023; on what later became Threads), and his plans to bring advertising to Fediverse instances (original SWF mission statement).

In those cases he showed, let's say, ethical flexibility with respect to backstage actions vs. front facing speech; and remarkable persistence when trying to gaslight me on verbatim quotes I took straight from the SWF website.

Way too many red flags.

@cwebber
Also I hope her tea is always the wrong temperature and that she steps on a Lego.

@cwebber

That rule looks might be recent or added on specifically for JKR "wishes".

@cwebber I wish that JK Rowling never again gets a full night's sleep, and that she faces non-violent anger and condemnation every time she shows her face anywhere.
@cwebber
As they say where I am from: May her arse itch and her arms be ever too short.
@cwebber
I hope the bottoms of her feet are always mildly sticky and she can’t find her shoes or socks.
@pomegranate_stew @cwebber Ohhh, dang, that's a good one! 😆

@cwebber wow you mean this Jessie Gender? @jessiegender

Everyone follow her over here on the fedi
I just did.

I can wish ill of JK Rowling all day...
and I will

@cwebber

One of my favorite curses, which I wholeheartedly wish upon JK Rowling ..

May the fleas of one thousand camels infest your armpits.

@saprentice May I also add regular bouts of dysentery. @cwebber

@Alison @saprentice @cwebber

Dysentery every time she gets up to speak in public. Sudden and uncontrollable.

@cwebber Dear JK Rowling I have no power to harm you but I wish for you to be turned into a dung beetle until you recognize that it's the upper class conservative men doing most of the sexual abuse.

@alienghic @cwebber

and has been for literally centuries

@cwebber Years ago, thanks to Terry Pratchett, I learnt the menacing phrase "May you live in interesting times" and that's what I wish JK Rowling.
@cwebber We don't have a Bluesky account (partly because we could see the writing on the wall for this kind of "moderation"), but honestly it makes us tempted to create one just to wish ill upon JKR.
@cwebber I promise to look the other way if you threaten ill upon JKR and someone files a report...
@cwebber May JKR live in interesting times. May those in authority become aware of her. May all her wishes that do NOT harm others become true. And may her sleeves always slip down and get wet when she washes hands.
@cwebber may JK forever find the stairs moving so she can never reach the bathroom she's trying to use.
@craignicol @cwebber nor the one she's trying to prevent others from using

@cwebber i have a friend that didn’t know about Rowling’s mask dropping and they were pissed. they’re not on social media and oligarchic media protects her. after all, USA’s biggest media company is Disney; and they control a big chunk of entertainment, sports and news.

there’s a need for an organized info insurgency against her.

@cwebber @djoerd That every time she gets up from the couch to make tea, she will bump her shins on the coffee table
