Test model for #VespidStingwings had to endure a lot today.

Finding where I can make blue work to give more variety and get that Staten Island Ferry look
🤔- shoulders and wings

Tried a more pale orange
❌- as the base color (left leg, left wrist)
❌- as base color with deep orange dry brush
🤔- as dry brush over deeper orange (face)

🤔- warmer off-white for wings

Open to feedback and suggestions.

@tuonel I think you need brighter colors on the face to attract the attention of the viewer.
But potentially, painting eyes, teeth, mandibles, etc will already help.
Also it seems the knee is brighter than the face (higher red saturation).
One trick is to highlight/dry brush with pure white, and then glaze some deep red/orange on the face to increase the saturation.
Most orange colors tend to decrease saturation and give the opposite of what you want when dry brushing.

@MiLk @tuonel Thanks very much!

I like the sound of dry brushing white then glazing with deep red/orange.

Lower saturation when dry brushing might explain why dry brushing the more saturated color over the less saturated one didn't seem to do anything.

@tuonel @MiLk instead of white as your highlight undercoat try yellow.
