Microsoft just became the second company valued at over $4 trillion. How did they do that?

They fired over 15K developers and IT workers this year, saying cost cutting was needed. They also spent over $18 billion on stock buybacks, and the board approved $60 billion in buyback options. They poured $100 billion into AI.

Meanwhile, Microsoft's Satya Nadella says job cuts have been 'weighing heavily' on him https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/07/24/microsoft-satya-nadella-memo-layoffs.html

Seriously? I am speechless. Such a brilliant business model 🤡

Microsoft's Satya Nadella says job cuts have been 'weighing heavily' on him

After eliminating over 15,000 positions this year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella now says the company's mission needs to change due to the rise of AI.

CNBC

How do you become a successful CEO in a tech company? Some tips:
+ Must be able to fire a large number of employees
+ Must be able to buy back stock in large quantities
+ Must be able to replace as many jobs as possible with AI
+ Must be able to justify firing and make it all about you

Can you do all that and sleep peacefully?

@nixCraft I would have thought that AI bots could do the same shit for less.
