Hey.

Hey, you.

Yeah, you. The person reading this. You, specifically.

Be messier and weirder. Fuck up more. And cut people a break when they're messy and weird and fuck up, if you can.

Queerness is about being messy.

@Impossible_PhD I wish I could boost this more than once!

@hazelnoot You can always boost it today and then boost it again tomorrow. Or you can be like @SymTrkl and get infinite fedi accounts and boost it on all of them. 😝

@Impossible_PhD

@faithisleaping @Impossible_PhD @SymTrkl ooh good idea, I can abuse the scheduled boost bug
@hazelnoot @SymTrkl @faithisleaping @Impossible_PhD what do you mean bug . that's not a bug. I use that on purpose. please don't fix it
@sodiboo @Impossible_PhD @faithisleaping @SymTrkl don't worry - it is a bug and we're gonna fix it, but we're also planning support for an actual "schedule boost" feature that doesn't involve a hacky workaround!
@Impossible_PhD @faithisleaping @SymTrkl @sodiboo but full honesty - it might be a while before that's implemented. we're running on a skeleton crew and most of the team is handling Life ™️ for the foreseeable future. I've only got ~4 hours per week for Sharkey dev and I'm currently spending all that on anti-spam features
@hazelnoot @SymTrkl @faithisleaping @Impossible_PhD what why . I don't consider it hacky currently. I assume the "hacky workaround" is "create a quote and put no contents and then schedule that" but I also use this to do regular unscheduled boosts fairly frequently, so I don't see why it is hacky when scheduled. that's just What a Boost Is. it's a "pure" ReNote with just a quote context and nothing else.

having a more discoverable way to schedule a boost (same way there's already a shortcut to make an unscheduled boost) is fine . but why does the current way need fixing? I find it very intuitive.
Workflow

xkcd
@sodiboo @hazelnoot @SymTrkl @faithisleaping @Impossible_PhD @MarkAssPandi this one does that too

although supposedly it breaks mastodon notifications? its not 100% sure tho

@hazelnoot @faithisleaping @Impossible_PhD @SymTrkl @sodiboo @MarkAssPandi it can't remember if it doesn't notify the user who's note is boosted or if it does, again

@Chloe @faithisleaping @Impossible_PhD @SymTrkl @sodiboo @MarkAssPandi it creates a real boost in the backend, so notifications should work. The "trick" is that boosts, quotes, and posts all go through the same codepath. By scheduling a quote with no other fields populated, the quote's JSON ends up looking like a boost instead, and the backend handles it as such.
@hazelnoot @Chloe @SymTrkl @faithisleaping @Impossible_PhD @MarkAssPandi yeah. is this considered an issue?? because genuinely, I find that model of posting very intuitive. I like that I can compose a note with any variety of these fields. and that there exists a single codepath to do so.

the rocket boost button is convenient sure but it's just like, a shortcut to a pure renote. I actively think of the association in that direction, not the other way around that a pure renote gets reinterpreted as a boost.
@hazelnoot @Impossible_PhD I beliecr you could boost it, and then boost your boost from your timeline.
