I’ve been looking into this a but more. The YouTube ban for under 16’s in Australia means that they won’t be able to have accounts but can still browse.

This means the current child account that parents can make that allow them to add content filters, have family friendly ads (or no ads with YouTube premium account), view a watch history to check, etc will no longer be a thing. (1/3)

How is this making YouTube safer for young people? It’s essentially making their viewing totally anonymous and lets them view anything?

Shouldn’t the Government be educating adults on how to effectively use YouTube kid accounts? or effectively monitor their childs social media usage? or subsidising effective filters to remove that traffic coming into the house? rather than just throwing an uneducated blanket ban out?

Who is advising the Government on this? (2/3)

It’s blows my mind how ridiculous this is.
