Damn. I wish I had the self confidence to promote my crap here like I see some developers do. I could never post something like "go download my app, it's the best one for foo and bar!1!".

There's absolutely nobody here that would care one iota about my app. Some however may find it mildly amusing to read some of my frustrated rants.

@chakie What kind of apps do you make?
@remaster In practice I only make one app that I've been working on since 2017 or so. For my day job I work on a couple others, but they are doing fine.

@chakie Alright, I checked out Model Colors, and I see how it’s for a slim market. I know one guy who does miniature painting but he’s not on iPhone. 😅
But in my opinion there is no shame in telling people about an app you made, if it can reach more people that might have use for it. The fediverse is full of people with specialized hobbies.

#miniaturePainting #hobbySupplies #tableTopArt #paintingMiniatures #miniatures #warhammer

@remaster Heh, I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's pretty rubbish and super niche. Unfortunately the target audience isn't too tech savvy (exceptions happen) so uptake is pretty low. Native places to market it are also pretty non existent, which is why I know that Mastodon definitely is not the place.
@chakie @remaster I think this app/idea looks really useful and I wouldn’t have found it if not for the convo. Still too new to painting, but hope to grow enough that I can use apps like this 👍

@jmingtan @remaster I started the app when I got back into the hobby ages ago. I needed some paints and drove over to the local hobby shop to buy paints. Always came home without some of the needed paints and with duplicates of others. Doh...

So instead of doing the sensible thing and keeping a note on my phone, I made an app. Initially a one screen app with just a shopping list.
