We want the Government to repeal the Online Safety act.

@davidgerard Boosted.
The ugly unintended consequence is it pushes nice, friendly well moderated forums onto cesspits like facebook, all because the government is frightened of taking on google, meta, tiktok etc...
@davidgerard Please write to your MP as well (yes, even if they're a Tory). Tell them how this legislation is smothering independent communities and free expression. Explain how age verification will not protect children effectively and instead puts British citizens at risk of identity theft. Point out how overseas websites are now geoblocking UK IP addresses, isolating us from the rest of the world. https://www.writetothem.com/

@davidgerard

Nope, won't be doing that.

Social media techbro destruction has been massively widespread and self-evident.

And fears of #OSA abuse of small servers are all hypothetical - leading me to believe those same techbros are helping push an AstroTurf movement. Just like we know they did about GDPR.

So, perhaps your intentions are good. And I've even engage if you had specific amendments to protect small sitea

But repeal, nope, that's the techbros' objective.

@davidgerard I have to VPN from Belgium now to look at Reddit. NSFW can mean porn. But it can also just mean a GTA 5 heist. Fantastic work UK government. I was really at risk because I liked a video game. At least it helps my French.
@davidgerard note that the government have already responded with, basically, "no, we're doubling down".
