Good morning. The Japan summer trifecta has finally reached Tokyo in full effect: heat, humidity and the screams of the cicada (semi, as we call them here).

At the desk today, to make leaps forward on a book design for a client.

Whatever your day brings, wishing you much luv&peace.

What would summer’s haikus talk about without the cicadas?

I miss their screams in Caracas: they went extinct ten or more years ago.

@alfiegoodrich Beautiful shots, both. I especially like the way #2 seems to simultaneously integrate and contrast the human elements within the photo with the natural elements. They’re both seen from a distance, anonymous, as if this could be anywhere. And humans are usually depicted as having the strong position in nature vs. humans. And sure, there’s a lot of us, and we need to treat the earth well if we wish to continue living here.

@alfiegoodrich But look how lightly the surfers and swimmers float on the very top of 326 million trillion gallons (really!) ocean water. And look how few, and how dim, our lights are when contrasted with the blazing flame of a single sunset.

(Not saying that any of that is what you intended, or anything like that. Just some deep ecological thinking on a Wednesday night, powered by some lovely photos. Thanks, as always, for sharing!)

@alfiegoodrich What a great composition. The sunset, lights on the shore, dusky light on the water :)
@alfiegoodrich Stay safe in those extremely hot and humid temps! My wife has an upcoming business trip to Tokyo this August, and I have been keeping an eye on the temps there. Too hot and humid!
