In this 1st year of his 2nd term, #Trump has claimed broad powers to unilaterally restructure much of how the US govt functions. Some…have gone completely unchallenged. Others have been litigated, & although lower courts have been skeptical of many of these efforts, #SCOTUS has been more approving.

#Trump has taken as much advantage of his new powers as he plausibly can, prosecuting his political enemies, firing independent agency heads, & dismantling federal agencies…at a whim.

One salient question…is: When & if #Democrats return to #power, how much of Trump’s #damage can they undo?…assume…that #SCOTUS acts in good faith—that its views on presidential power are without partisan favor, & that it doesn’t arbitrarily invent carve-outs to rein in a Democratic president. What then?

@Nonilex Causing great damage to a democracy is easy, see how much he has done in half a year, and imagine the total destruction he can bring if he gets to stay in the White House for the remaining 3.5...

Undoing the damage takes much, much more time.

I have very little hope for a democratic US if this orange grifter isn't removed from power very soon.
