What a #Democrat Could Do With Trump’s [#Appropriated] #Power

In this 1st year of his 2nd term, #Trump has claimed broad powers to unilaterally restructure much of how the US govt functions. Some…have gone completely unchallenged. Others have been litigated, & although lower courts have been skeptical of many of these efforts, #SCOTUS has been more approving.

What a Democrat Could Do With Trump’s Power

America is entering an age of retributive governing cycles.

The Atlantic

#Trump has taken as much advantage of his new powers as he plausibly can, prosecuting his political enemies, firing independent agency heads, & dismantling federal agencies…at a whim.

One salient question…is: When & if #Democrats return to #power, how much of Trump’s #damage can they undo?…assume…that #SCOTUS acts in good faith—that its views on presidential power are without partisan favor, & that it doesn’t arbitrarily invent carve-outs to rein in a Democratic president. What then?

@Nonilex I think the most effective step that could be taken is prosecution of corrupt acts in all three branches. But firing those who took a loyalty pledge just before their arrest would go a long way to making people think before they act.
