@emilyyoung Welcome back and, I've commented to say I had similar issues with my Asus X670E-F. I think the early BIOS were decidedly 'beta'. 🤣
@gavin57 You know, one of the reasons I went with Gigabyte this time was because while I was at LMG, Labs found that the early Gigabyte 600-series boards were way more reliable than the early ASUS ones. It seems the turns may have tabled.
@emilyyoung Good to see you :-) I didn't know you were on the fediverse!
@claudius Yup, I'm on here, Bluesky, Twitter, and Threads, though most active on here and Bluesky since that's where most of my followers seem to have congregated. Proper thing, IMO, I'm happier to be in places that aren't algorithmic.
@emilyyoung @claudius I wounder why my following you seems to be on "waiting for confirmation"

@emilyyoung Hey Emily, you can make mastodon to show the miniature of the video by just posting like this:

first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= and then your video code

Don’t know why it is the way it is, but just works.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

@ideimos Huh, the instance I'm on does show the preview on the youtu.be link. I guess it depends on the instance, I'll keep that in mind going forward.
@emilyyoung Oh, didn’t know that. Thanks!

@emilyyoung Oh man. Thank goodness I bought a B650 before the price creep. $700CAD for the ASUS board is painful.

Your rig is basically my iPhone 13 Pro Max saga, I spent nearly $2600 trying to un-lemon my 13 Pro Max and it's ALSO critical to my content creation plans. I had similar mistakes, just to Apple iPhone repair and how it should be done. It was a costly mistake.

@emilyyoung Just to clarify, I chose the wrong repairs with the wrong kinds of repair shops. If I had did it on my own it would have been way worse.
@emilyyoung I know this is off topic, but I just wanted to say that you are looking better and better by the video. 😊
@Fiona Thanks! I've actually been putting on some weight over the course of all this happening, but I'm still working on it <3
@emilyyoung The magic of E: Most gained weight goes straight to nice places where it is welcome. 😄

I was admittedly a bit surprised your breasts were, given that mine got to size a year ago by gaining weight and have been shrinking ever since I started dieting. (Still:
SOOOO worth it for the looks alone, let alone that I now meet the weight requirements that they have here for bottom surgery!)

@emilyyoung Man modern motherboards are such a nightmare... been ages I had a motherboard that wasn't dogshit, you would think things are plug n play but nope I find it worse then jumper days.
@emilyyoung oooof. Glad it's resolved, but sucks going through that process. You've much more patience in troubleshooting than me; I tend to run memtest once and if that passes assume the issue is the motherboard. So far it's been correct but I'm sure I'll be screwed on that the one time it ends up being CPU instead.

@emilyyoung

If it's AM5 bent pin woes, my condolences: those suck ass and suck even more ass to troubleshoot

@emilyyoung This is too real 😭 I’m surprised that pin flying out showed up on camera! That must have been infuriating when you discovered it in editing lol
@emilyyoung awesome video! so glad you're around and i so much hope you’ll be able to continue making videos and that you get all the attention you deserve.
@emilyyoung i am waiting for a case to put together my video pc, also am5. thanks for making this mistake for us and sharing it, i will be a lot more careful and considerate when putting it together now that i have seen this. ;)
@emilyyoung Ahah, love the foreshadowing in the alt-text 😁

@emilyyoung

I just watched this video--I'm behind the times and didn't know you had left LTT.

I haven't assembled a PC in many years and did not realize the pins had moved from the CPU to the socket. When I think of installing CPUs I still think of the ZIF sockets with the little arm that locks the CPU in place. I'm so out-of-touch.

Anyway, I hope to see more from you soon!

@emilyyoung yeah, that reminds me of the issues @fuchsiii had with her #AM5 machine.

Luckily she got 64 GB of RAM ages ago, cuz now that got €500 more expensive!
