Well, that attempt at getting my Pixel 6a battery replaced under the recall programme could have gone better.

First I missed the announcement one stop before the one I needed that the train would be running fast to the end of the line, because I was listening to music.

Then, when I got to the terminus, the first train back evaporated from the departure board, so I had to wait another 15 minutes. I suspect that was supposed to be the one I arrived on, which pulled in at completely the opposite side of the station to usual, and I should have just stayed there instead of legging it across. But there was absolutely no indication of this on the departure boards.

While I was waiting, the post I was leaning on suddenly sprung a leak and soaked my t-shirt sleeve and shoulder.

Finally, by the time I got back to the intended station, I realised that there wouldn't be time for them to do the replacement before closing time, so I just stayed on the train home.

Now I'm changing to a dry t-shirt and heading out to the best local pub to comfort myself with some nice Indian food.

Result! Paneer tikka with hot pickled mango marinade, lamb seekh with mint mayo, and a Firebrand Shipwreck Coast amber ale.
I might retry earlier in the day tomorrow, bringing my laptop with me and working from a nearby café while I wait.
@ilmari at least you're getting good Indian food out of it
@gizmomathboy I was planning to have dinner at the shopping centre while they were replacing the battery, where a fancy-looking Indian restaurant would have been an option. But the local pub is a safer bet.
